Roof prism
Roof prisms can be used in applications that require an image or laser beam to be deflected by 90 degrees. When passing through the prism, the image is reflected from right to left and from top to bottom. Suitable for telescopes and any optical instrument that requires the image to be flipped from the objective, turned over to the right, and bent at 90° to maintain correct visual orientation. The hypotenuse of the prism uses total internal reflection (TIR) to reflect the image through the prism.
